The prevalence in the hospital or institution varies from 13 to 47% of elderly persons. The main clinical types are denture stomatitis, acute atrophic glossitis, thrush and angular cheilitis.

British Journal of Diseases of the Chest, 1976In a survey of 400 consecutive patients with chronic asthma treated with beclomethasone dipropionate aerosol (up to 400 mug/day) the prevalence of oropharyngeal thrush was 4-5%. The prevalence of this complication was not significantly related to sex, age, duration of treatment with beclomethasone or concurrent treatment with prednisolone.
