The possibilities of accompanying therapy for malignant oropharyngeal neoplasms
P.A. Herzen Journal of Oncology, 2023Objective. To evaluate the efficiency of incorporating remaxol into the accompanying therapy regimen for patients with malignant oropharyngeal neoplasms with the manifestations of toxic reactions to etiotropic treatment. Subjects and methods. The data of 104 patients (88 men and 16 women) with R-negative oropharyngeal cancer (T3-4N0-3M0) were analyzed.

Primary mixed neuroendocrine-nonneuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN) of the head and neck region is a rare biphasic tumor with an aggressive biological behavior. This report highlights an additional case of oropharyngeal MiNEN in a 46-year-old male patient with a previous long-term smoking history.

Abstract A15: Autofluorescence-guided detection of oropharyngeal neoplasms and precursor lesions
Cancer Prevention Research, 2011Abstract Introduction: The incidence of oropharyngeal (OP) cancer has been increasing, in contrast to the overall head and neck tumors, likely related to human papillomavirus infection (HPV). Early clinical detection of oral cavity (OC) and OP tumors and precursors is essential for early intervention and chemoprevention.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the mutation profile of BRAF wild-type craniopharyngiomas and ameloblastomas. Pre-screening by immunohistochemistry and pyrosequencing for identifying BRAF wild-type tumors was performed on archived specimens of ameloblastic tumors (n = 20) and craniopharyngiomas (n = 62).

Mixed neuroendocrine-nonneuroendocrine (MiNEN) neoplasms in the head and neck are exceptionally rare biphasic tumors with unclear pathogenesis and an aggressive clinical behavior. This is the first reported case of an oropharyngeal MiNEN with the nonneuroendocrine component being an HPV-associated adenocarcinoma.

[The results of definitive transcutaneous radiotherapy in the treatment of oropharyngeal neoplasms].
La Radiologia medica, 1992From January 1976 to December 1986, 199 patients with oropharyngeal cancer were submitted to definitive radiotherapy. Survival and local control were analyzed and related to different parameters--i.e, T and N categories, histopathologic grading, tumor location, patients age, and radiation dose.

Use of an extended superiorly based posterior wall pharyngeal flap for the immediate reconstruction of the soft palate in three patients undergoing commando excision of oropharyngeal neoplasms recurrent after radiotherapy is described. The technique appears to be simple, fast, safe, and effective.
