Lymphoepithelioma of the Oropharynx
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1989Lymphoepithelioma is common in the nasopharynx, but its presence elsewhere in Waldeyer's ring is rare. Thirteen patients with lymphoepithelioma in the tonsil and base of the tongue have been treated at our institution. At Initial examination, all 13 patients had advanced clinical disease.

Malakoplakia of the oropharynx
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2001We present a case of malakoplakia presenting as a lesion in the oropharynx of an elderly smoker. In this case a clinical diagnosis of carcinoma of the pharynx was made, biopsy revealed the nature of the lesion and management was radically altered.

Oropharyngeal cancer is a rare tumour. Tobacco use and alcohol consumption are recognised as major risk factors. Several carcinogens, occupational exposures and vitamin deficiencies represent the most significant predisposing factors. A varying host susceptibility to carcinogens can be inferred.

Malignant Tumours of the Oropharynx
Acta Radiologica: Therapy, Physics, Biology, 1977An analysis of a series of 127 patients with malignant tumours of the oropharynx is presented. All cases of epidermoid carcinoma were retrospectively classified according to the TNM system. Primary treatment consisted in irradiation in all cases of malignant lymphoma and epidermoid carcinoma.
