Observations on the thermostability of orosomucoid
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1981Summary Orosomucoid is shown to have no special resistance to thermal denaturation, contrary to previous thought. Earlier conclusions probably arose from the great solubility of the molecule, even at elevated temperature. Under otherwise physiological conditions, orosomucoid begins denaturing at ∼46°C with a T m of 62°C.

Microheterogeneity of orosomucoid in pathological conditions
ELECTROPHORESIS, 1989AbstractStudies of orosomucoid (α1‐acid glycoprotein) in human serum have revealed that orosomucoid is a mixture of molecules with differences in the glycan chains. This microheterogeneity has been studied using crossed affinoimmuno‐electrophoresis with the lectin concanavalin A which binds to biantennary glycans.

Orosomucoid System: 17 Additional Orosomucoid Variants and Proposal for a New Nomenclature
Vox Sanguinis, 1993AbstractThere are two forms of orosomucoid (ORM) in the sera of most individuals. They are encoded by two separate but closely linked loci, ORM1 and ORM2. A number of variants have been identified in various populations. Duplication and nonexpression are also observed in some populations. Thus, the ORM system is very complicated and its nomenclature is

Comparison of Bovine and Human Orosomucoids
Nature, 1962THE existence of acidic glycoproteins in human1–3 and bovine4,5 sera has been well established. A bovine M-2 glycoprotein has been isolated in an apparently pure state as described by us earlier5, and bovine orosomucoid has been purified by Weimer and Winzler4.

Some immunochemical studies on orosomucoid
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1963Abstract An acidic glycoprotein has been isolated from nephrotic urine by means of DEAE cellulose chromatography. The homogeneity of the glycoprotein was investigated and an antiserum raised to it in rabbits. Periodate oxidation of the glycoprotein was carried out in order to assist in determining the antigenic moiety of the molecule.

Studies on Orosomucoid in Normal Infants and Children
Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 1962AbstractThe orosomucoid content of serum has been determined in healthy infants and children. Analyses of haptoglobin and of electrophoretic protein fractions have also been made. The mean umbilical cord serum level of orosomucoid was significantly lower than the level in the maternal serum. Apart from a transient increase during the first week of life,

Serum orosomucoid concentration in newborn infants
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1981Serum orosomucoid concentration was measured by laser nephelometry in 1970 serum samples collected from 1170 full term and preterm infants. The determinations were carried out in 1 h. Reference values are given: they show that the low levels at birth are influenced by gestational age.

Pro-angiogenic properties of orosomucoid (ORM)
Experimental Cell Research, 2009The acute phase protein orosomucoid (ORM), also known as alpha1-acid glycoprotein (AGP), is found to be increased in infection, inflammation and cancer. Recently, we demonstrated that ORM is produced by endothelial cells and detectable in urine samples of patients with bladder cancer.

Inhibition of viral hemagglutination by aggregated orosomucoid
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1968Abstract The aggregation of orosomucoid by heating at 80 °, and its resultant capacity to inhibit viral hemagglutination by PR8 influenza virus has been studied. Heating orosomucoid in unbuffered saline resulted in a polydisperse aggregate. Fractionation of such preparations on Sephadex G-200 resulted in a separation into three components.

Studies on Orosomucoid and Haptoglobin in Rheumatoid Arthritis
