Chemical Phase Analysis of Arsenic Ores—A Study on Selective Separation Conditions of Orpiment and Realgar [PDF]
As a rich symbiotic mineral resource, orpiment (As2S3) and realgar (AsS/As2S2/As4S4) are common sulfide minerals of arsenic. However, due to their similar chemical properties, the chemical phase analysis method of arsenic has always taken these two ...

Orpiment under compression: metavalent bonding at high pressure [PDF]
Orpiment (α-As2S3) under compression reports a strong change in the coordination of As atoms at 25 GPa, which can be ascribed to an isostructural phase transition. These changes are consistent with the formation of metavalent bonds in orpiment.

MULTI-INSTRUMENTAL IDENTIFICATION OF ORPIMENT IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL MORTUARY CONTEXTS [PDF]
This paper reports on an unknown yellowish mineral compound found in an archaeological context from Chorrillos cemetery (Calama, Chile) dating to the Early Formative period (800 - 200 B.C.). We used optic microscopy, SEM, EDX, ¹H-RMN, 13C-RMN, and infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy to tease out the chemical and molecular composition of the sample ...

Two Pathways for the Degradation of Orpiment Pigment (As2S3) Found in Paintings. [PDF]
Paintings are complex objects containing many different chemical compounds that can react over time. The degradation of arsenic sulfide pigments causes optical changes in paintings. The main degradation product was thought to be white arsenolite (As2O3),

Fast pH-Driven Solubilization Method of Realgar (As4S4) to Reduce the Toxicity of Arsenic [As(III)] for Medicinal Purposes. [PDF]
Arsenic trioxide transformed acute promyelocytic leukemia therapy and shows promise against HIV. A new method to solubilize the mineral realgar produces different arsenic species depleting the main arsenic target, nuclear PML protein, and retaining effects on leukemic and HIV reservoir cells, while minimizing off‐target damage.

Purification, Detoxification, and Incineration Methods of Minerals and Metals in Traditional Medicine Formulations of Sri Lanka. [PDF]
Background. Herbo‐mineral therapies are very popular in traditional medical systems and formulations consisting of specific minerals or metals or mixture of both and mixed with organic components derived from plants. Purification/detoxification or incineration procedures play an important role to detoxify these and metals and minerals. Objective.

Revisiting the Nature of Chemical Bonding in Chalcogenides to Explain and Design their Properties
Quantum chemical bonding descriptors enable a quantitative description of bonding in chalcogenides. These descriptors are employed as property predictors for optical and transport properties. Hence, they can be utilized to tailor thermoelectrics, photovoltaics, and phase‐change memories. Their unusual property portfolio is attributed to a novel bonding
