Exhaustive Reduction of Esters, Carboxylic Acids and Carbamates to Methyl Groups Catalyzed by Boronic Acids

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 26, Issue 46, December 6, 2023., 2023
The multi‐step reduction of carboxy groups to methyl groups commonly used in organic synthesis is simplified by a new metal‐free catalyst system. It uses boronic acids to catalyze the single‐step reduction of esters, carboxylic acids and carbamates to methyl groups.

Advances in organic UV filters for sunscreens over the past decade

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Highlighted organic UV filter frameworks that have been described for sunscreens over the past decade divided into three groups: derivatives of or inspired by approved organic UV filters, natural product‐based compounds, and miscellaneous. Abstract Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a major environmental factor in photoaging, erythema, and skin cancer ...

Brønsted Acid‐Catalyzed Direct N‐Alkylation of Anilines With Alcohols

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 22, 11 June 2026.
Brønsted acid‐catalyzed methodology for the alkylation of anilines with alcohols has been developed. The reaction occurs in short reaction time with excellent functional group tolerance. A broad range of aniline and alcohol derivatives generates the desired adducts in good to excellent yields.

Mild and Metal‐Free CH Arylation of Imidazoles via In Situ Diazotization in Water

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 10, 19 May 2026.
Imidazoles undergo direct C–H arylation through in situ generated diazonium salts in water, under ambient and catalyst‐free conditions. This operationally simple method avoids hazardous intermediates, tolerates sensitive functional groups, and preserves C–halogen bonds.

Investigating Low‐Temperature Stress Responses in Crustacea Aquatic Species Through Comparative Transcriptomics

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Crustaceans, such as shrimp and crabs, are pivotal to global aquaculture, yet their productivity is severely impacted by low‐temperature stress. This study employs comparative transcriptomic and genomic analyses to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying crustacean responses to cold stress across five economically significant species ...

Functional Characterisation of Microbial Communities Related to Black Stain Formation in Lascaux Cave

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2025.
Excessive anthropization can lead to black stain alterations on cave walls. The present work reports the first metagenomic analysis of black stains threatening artwork in Lascaux Cave. Findings show new microbial taxa and genetic potential associated with black stains.

Functional Profiles of Phyllosphere and Rhizosphere Metagenomes Differ Across Milkweed Species

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2025.
We characterised milkweed microbiomes using a metagenomics approach to investigate the functional potential of endophytic phyllosphere and rhizosphere communities. We found evidence that the composition of potential PSM genes varied across milkweeds in spp. specific responses, for both phyllospheres and rhizospheres, and in response to monarch feeding.

New Pyridobenothiazolone Derivatives Display Nanomolar Pan‐Serotype Anti‐Dengue Virus Activity

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 13, July 1, 2025.
A ligand‐based strategy is employed, starting from hit compound 2, to develop the C‐2 modified pyridobenzothiazolone 19 as a pan‐serotype nanomolar DENV‐1‐4 inhibitor. Investigations of the mechanism reveal the peculiar ability to abolish the infectivity of virions in a second infection.
