Ortho-aminobenzoic acid as a fluorescent probe for the interaction between peptides and micelles
Biophysical Chemistry, 1998Ortho-aminobenzoic acid (o-Abz) has been used as a fluorescent probe in internally quenched fluorescent peptides for continuous protease assays. We investigated the fluorescent properties of the probe in order to verify if it can be used to monitor the interaction of peptides with micelles.

Abstract This paper reports on the effect of solvent viscosity on the emission spectra of a series of local anesthetic analogues containing the ortho -aminobenzoate (anthranilate) chromophore. The emission spectra of these compounds in glycerol undergo a blue shift with decreasing temperature in accordance with solvent relaxation.
