Detection of Orthobunyavirus in mosquitoes collected in Argentina

Medical and Veterinary Entomology, 2015
AbstractBunyamwera virus (BUNV) (Bunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus, serogroup Bunyamwera) is considered an emerging pathogen for humans and animals in American countries. The CbaAr‐426 strain of BUNV was recovered from mosquitoes Ochlerotatus albifasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) collected in Córdoba province (Argentina), where serological studies ...

IN VITRO AND IN VIVO STUDIES OF RIBAVIRIN ACTION ON BRAZILIAN ORTHOBUNYAVIRUS

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2006
Oropouche, Caraparu, Guama, Guaroa, and Tacaiuma are viruses (genus Orthobunyavirus) that cause human febrile illnesses and encephalitis. The goal of this study was to evaluate the antiviral action of ribavirin on these orthobunyaviruses to achieve a therapeutical agent to treat the diseases caused by these viruses.

Identification of a phylogenetically distinct orthobunyavirus from group C

Archives of Virology, 2011
Apeu virus (APEUV) (family Bunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus) was plaque purified and characterised by serological and molecular analysis. Neutralising assays confirmed cross-reactivity between purified APEUV clones and the Caraparu virus complex of group C orthobunyaviruses. Partial sequencing of the L, M and S segments of one APEUV clone (APEUV-CL5)
