An improved analytical model of cutting temperature in orthogonal cutting of Ti6Al4V

open access: yesChinese Journal of Aeronautics, 2019
Cutting heat has significant effects on the machined surface integrity of titanium alloys in the aerospace field. Many unwanted problems such as surface burning, work hardening, and tool wear can be induced by high cutting temperatures.

Measuring complex-partition-function zeros of Ising models in quantum simulators [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2019
Studying the zeros of partition functions in the space of complex control parameters allows one to understand formally how critical behavior of a many-body system can arise in the thermodynamic limit despite various no-go theorems for finite systems.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Fast flow simulation method based on POD and BPNN

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2021
It is computationally expensive to perform a large number of flow analysis by using high-fidelity CFD simulation. The paper proposes a fast flow-analysis method based on the proper orthogonal decomposition(POD) and back propagation based neural network ...

Point-to-line polymers and orthogonal Whittaker functions [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2017
We study a one-dimensional directed polymer model in an inverse-gamma random environment, known as the log-gamma polymer, in three different geometries: point-to-line, point-to-half-line and when the polymer is restricted to a half-space with end point ...

Advanced Electron Microscopy and Microcomputed Tomography Analysis of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Base Superalloys After Short‐Term Multiaxial Creep

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Partition functions for matrix models and isomonodromic tau functions

open access: yes, 2003
For one-matrix models with polynomial potentials, the explicit relationship between the partition function and the isomonodromic tau function for the 2 × 2 polynomial differential systems satisfied by the associated orthogonal polynomials is ...

Interpretation of petrographic anisotropy in ornamental granites based on P wave velocity measurements

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2020
The existence of a possible anisotropy, determined by the orientation of any mineral or by microcrack network in granite rock, isn´t easily detected by the naked eye.

User Clustering and Power Allocation for Hybrid Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Systems

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2019
In this article, a comprehensive strategy of user clustering and power allocation is investigated in downlink hybrid non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks.
