From Pharmaceutical to Biophysical Therapies: New Horizons in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Management

open access: yesJCC Plus, Volume 1, Issue 2, March 2026.
Important limitations exist in the current pharmacological landscape of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), such as variable response rates and treatment‐limiting adverse effects. In this review, we perform a critical assessment of the current literature on novel multimodal biophysical approaches showing alternative mechanisms of action to, and potential

Extracellular Vesicles From Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Drive Muscle and Neuronal Regeneration Through TNFα Modulation

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Workflow of the work. (1) Human muscle biopsies were collected, and the human muscle precursor cells (hMPC) were isolated, followed by co‐culture with human monocytes (THP‐1). In parallel, human muscles were decellularised to obtain an extracellular matrix (ECM) free of cells. ECM were recellularised by injecting hMPC and THP1 into the matrix.

Automated Optical 3d Scanner to Assess Postoperative Edema Following Forefoot Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Postoperative edema is a common and often underestimated consequence of forefoot surgery, potentially affecting wound healing, patient comfort, and recovery time. Traditional measurement techniques, such as water displacement and circumferential taping, have limitations in the immediate postoperative period due to infection risk and

Vascular Reconstruction in Extremity Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review and Single‐Arm Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, Volume 133, Issue 4, Page 486-510, March 15, 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The management of extremity soft tissue sarcomas (STS) involving major vessels presents unique challenges, historically leading to amputation. Advances in vascular reconstruction have enabled limb‐sparing surgery (LSS), but outcomes and perioperative risks remain uncertain.

Metastatic Spine Disease Alters Vertebral Load‐To‐Strength Ratios in Cancer Patients Compared to Healthy Individuals

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
This study investigated the effect of spinal bone metastasis (BM) on the biomechanical environment of the spine through estimates of load, strength, and the load‐to‐strength ratio (LSR). Our study suggests that task‐specific differences related to cancer, lesion type, and vertebral location differentially affect the biomechanical environment of the ...

Adenotonsillar Microbiome Shifts in Children With Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 3, Page 1525-1535, March 2026.
This study compares the microbiomes of adenoids and tonsils in pediatric OSAS patients and healthy controls using 16S rRNA sequencing. Significant differences were found in the tonsillar microbiome of OSAS patients, with lower alpha diversity and an overrepresentation of pathogenic genera like Haemophilus and Neisseria, while adenoid microbiomes showed

Hybrid Probiotic Hydrogel With Curcumin‐Loaded MnO2 Nanoparticles Enhances Diabetic Wound Healing Through Multimodal Microenvironmental Regulation

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Skin wound injuries are often accompanied by bacterial infections and severe inflammation. Especially, M1‐type macrophages at the wound site can trigger a cascade of inflammatory responses, mediating a vicious cycle of inflammation. Meanwhile, hypoxia further exacerbates vascular damage and constriction in the wound microenvironment, thereby ...

Factors associated with flexible cystoscope longevity: an analysis of supplier and health service datasets

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 137, Issue 3, Page 509-518, March 2026.
Objectives To investigate the associations between how reusable flexible cystoscopes (FCs) are managed during their functioning lifetime and their longevity. Patients and Methods This was an exploratory retrospective analysis of administrative data collected by a medical supplies company (KARL STORZ Endoscopy (UK) Ltd) on FC usage linked at a National ...
