A New Lignan from the Leaves of Orthosiphon aristatus

Investigation of the methanol extract of the leaves of Orthosiphon aristatus led to the isolation of four compounds. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence and comparison with the literature. Among these compounds, compound 1 is a new lignan, and 2–4 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

ORTHOSIPHON ARISTATUS (Orthosiphonis folium DAB 9) was studied with regard to its phenolic constituents. Twenty compounds were isolated and identified on the basis of their spectral characteristics.
