Digital Image Correlation for Assessment of Bridges’ Technical State and Remaining Resource
Bridges enable communications and transportation of goods nationally and internationally, underpinning economic and social activities, and thus they are pylons of our prosperity and mobility. Bridges worldwide are constantly subjected to physical wear, ageing, deterioration, hazards, environmental influences, and increased loading.

Analysis on Fatigue Crack of Orthotropic Steel Bridge Decks
AbstractThrough the detection of the steel structure bridge for 7 years, the main distribution of cracks in steel box girder of steel structure bridge was presented. Through the numerical analysis of the steel box girder of steel structure bridge, the stress distribution of the diaphragms was obtained. The result of detection and the numerical analysis

Data‐Driven Fatigue Failure Probability Updating of OSD by Bayesian Backward Propagation
This study introduces a data‐driven approach for updating the fatigue failure probability of the orthotropic steel deck (OSD) using Bayesian backward propagation. The OSD in steel bridges is considered as a parallel system composed of two critical fatigue‐prone components, namely, the rib‐to‐diaphragm and rib‐to‐deck joints.

Analysis of Residual Stresses in Curved Cutouts of Steel Box Girder Transverse Diaphragms
In order to analyze the characteristics of cutting residual stress distribution at the arc‐shaped cutout of steel box girder diaphragm and to study its fatigue cracking mechanism. Taking Xia Zhang Bridge as the engineering background, this paper proposes a systematic method for calculating the residual stress field at the arc‐shaped cutout of the ...

Statistical Analysis of Stress Signals from Bridge Monitoring by FBG System
In this paper, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based stress monitoring system instrumented on an orthotropic steel deck arch bridge is demonstrated. The FBG sensors are installed at two types of critical fatigue-prone welded joints to measure the strain and ...

Analysis of the performance of cable-stayed bridges under extreme events [PDF]
University of Technology Sydney. Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. In bridge structures, loss of critical members (e.g. cables or piers) and associated collapse may occur due to several reasons, such as wind (e.g.

Asphalt mixture is a viscoelastic material composed of aggregates, asphalt mastics, and voids. Meanwhile, the dynamic interaction between vehicle and bridge makes asphalt deck pavement in a more complex stress state, leading to premature damage such as cracks and ruts during its operation service period.
