Allelopathic Observations in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) to Ducksalad (Heteranthera limosa) [PDF]
More than 50 weed species infest drill-seeded rice in the U.S. and one of the most prevalent aquatic weeks is ducksalad (Heteranthera limosa). During the summer of 1988, a field experiment was conducted to identify rice accessions from the USDA/ARS rice ...

Improving Pharmaceutical Protein Production in Oryza sativa [PDF]
Application of plant expression systems in the production of recombinant proteins has several advantages, such as low maintenance cost, absence of human pathogens, and possession of complex post-translational glycosylation capabilities. Plants have been successfully used to produce recombinant cytokines, vaccines, antibodies, and other proteins, and ...

Here, we uncovered an unexpected O‐deglycosylation activity of the C glycosyltransferase (FcCGT), forming phloretin (1) from phloretin 2'‐O‐glucoside (2). In the presence of UDP, FcCGT catalyzes the O→C rearrangement to yield nothofagin (3). Upon additional UDP‐glucose, further C‐glycosylation occurs, forming phloretin 3',5'‐di‐C‐glucoside (4 ...

Protein profile of rice (Oryza sativa) seeds [PDF]
Seeds are the most important plant storage organ and play a central role in the life cycle of plants. Since little is known about the protein composition of rice (Oryza sativa) seeds, in this work we used proteomic methods to obtain a reference map of rice seed proteins and identify important molecules.

ABSTRACT Of the three types of cytoskeleton known in animals—actin, microtubules, and intermediate filaments—only actin and microtubules exist in plants. Both play important roles in cellular shaping, organelle movement, organization of the endomembrane system, and cell signaling.

Making Two out of One: Kinesin Motors Driving Plant Cell Division
ABSTRACT The Kinesin superfamily of microtubule dependent motors is present in all eukaryotes. Not all of the subfamilies are represented in all kingdoms, and the ones that are do not always show conserved functions. Tight control of the cytoskeleton is essential for proper progression and completion of mitosis and cytokinesis, and key functions are ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of upland rice (Oryza sativa) in southwest of China
We sequenced complete mitochondrial genome of upland rice Oryza sativa (Liliopsida: Poales: Poaceae) with length of 444,883 bp. The genome has similar codon usage and gene organization to those of mitogenome reported for other Poales.
