Olfactory and aggregation responses of Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) to extracts from oats

Journal of Stored Products Research, 1982
Abstract Rolled oats and pentane extracts of rolled oats were attractive to the adult Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) when tested in a Y-tube olfactometer. Pentane and ether extracts of rolled oats caused aggregation of these beetles when tested in a two-choice petri dish bioassay. Responses to crude extracts obtained by 3 different extraction methods

Die symbiose von Oryzaephilus surinamensis L. (Cucujidae, Coleoptera)

Zeitschrift für Morphologie und Ökologie der Tiere, 1931

Phosphine resistance in saw-toothed grain beetle, Oryzaephilus surinamensis in the United States

Journal of Stored Products Research, 2020
Abstract Phosphine (PH3) fumigation resulting in sub-lethal exposure has led to the development of phosphine resistance in many stored-product insect species worldwide and is a major challenge to the continued effective use of phosphine. In 2016 phosphine resistance was found in Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) and Plodia interpunctella (Hubner ...

Symbiosestudien. II. Experimentelle untersuchungen an oryzaephilus surinamensis L. (Cucujidae, Coleopt.)

Zeitschrift für Morphologie und Ökologie der Tiere, 1936

The influence of photoperiod upon the productivity of Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) (Coleoptera: Silvanidae)

Journal of Stored Products Research, 2008
Abstract The productivity per female of the Tangmere and Thorne strains of Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) was studied at 25 °C, 70% r.h. in continuous dark (DD) and in 12 h cycles of light and dark (LD 12:12), in which the illumination intensity of the photophase was 100–200 lx.

Genetical and Cytological Observations on Oryzaephilus surinamensis (The Saw-Toothed Grain Beetle)

The American Naturalist, 1928
In summarizing the work done On Oryzaephilus surinamensis it may be said that it presents possibilities for further investigation. It is a suitable insect for experimental genetics for: (1) Although the variations are somewhat indefinite two have been found to be inherited. (2) It lends itself to laboratory breeding.

REPLACEMENT OF RNA IN THE DIET OF ORYZAEPHILUS SURINAMENSIS (L.) (COLEOPTERA: SILVANIDAE) BY PURINES, PYRIMIDINES, AND RIBOSE

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1966
Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) survived in greater numbers when guanine and cytosine were added to a synthetic diet at a concentration of 0.4 mg/g each than when yeast RNA was included in the diet at 5.0 mg/g. They developed as quickly on this diet as when yeast RNA was added to the basic diet.

AMINO ACID REQUIREMENTS OF ORYZAEPHILUS SURINAMENSIS (L.) (COLEOPTERA: SILVANIDAE) FOR PUPATION

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1956
A racemic mixture of alanine in the diet was deleterious to Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.) in the concentration used. Cystine, arginine, and proline were also harmful and the adverse effect of alanine may have been partially reduced by their removal from the diet.
