Electroplating of Wear‐ and Corrosion‐Resistant CrCoNi Medium‐Entropy Alloys beyond Hard Chromium Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electroplating of a CrCoNi medium‐entropy alloy is achieved using a mixture of an ionic liquid and an aqueous solution containing metal salts. The CrCoNi medium‐entropy alloy thin film exhibits high wear and corrosion resistance superior to conventional hard chromium coatings. Abstract High‐entropy alloys (HEAs) and medium‐entropy alloys (MEAs) are

Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Ignition Area on the Subsequent Flame Propagation Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2009
In this paper, the effect of ignition area on the propagation of a laminar premixed flame is investigated numerically in a two-dimensional channel. A single-step irreversible overall exothermic chemical reaction is applied to model combustion chemistry ...

Dynamic rheology of a supercooled polymer melt in non-uniform oscillating flows in rapidly oscillating plates

open access: yes, 2011
The dynamic rheology of a polymer melt composed of short chains with ten beads between rapidly oscillating plates is investigated for various oscillation frequencies by using the hybrid simulation of the molecular dynamics and computational fluid ...

Development of a Novel, All‐Aromatic High Tensile Modulus Liquid Crystalline Polyimide for Fused Filament Fabrication Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel, high tensile modulus, fully aromatic thermotropic liquid crystalline polyimide (LCPI) with better solvent resistance and thermal stability is synthesized. Tensile specimens are fabricated using both injection molding and FFF processes, accomplished via lower viscosity enabled by the LC phase.

Spurious oscillations in IMPATT oscillators

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1975
Incorrect circuit design of cavity-controlled IMPATT oscillators may cause low-frequency instabilities and frequency jumping, which are simply avoidable. A simple technique for identifying the avalanche resonance frequency of packaged IMPATT oscillators is also described.

3D In Vitro Glioma‐Neuron‐Astrocyte Biomimetic Composites Recapitulate Key Molecular Mechanisms Linked to Glioblastoma Multiforme Pathophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma multiforme is the most devastating and incurable brain tumor. To better study this disease, a 3D model is developed using a hyaluronic acid‐based hydrogel combined with a multicellular approach. This model recapitulates in vivo brain stiffness, cell‐extracellular matrix and cell‐cell interactions and the tumor's hijacking function with the

DIAGNOSTICS OF GASOLINE FUEL SYSTEMS WITH DIRECT INJECTION [PDF]

open access: yesAvtomobilʹnyj Transport (Harʹkov), 2017
A method of diagnosing fuel systems with direct injection by means of producing a pressure oscillation in a hydraulic accumulator is presented. Having obtained a signal from pressure sensor it is possible to register a pressure drop at the moment of ...

Print‐and‐Plate Architected Electrodes for Electrochemical Transformations Under Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Typical flow cell electrodes are composed of stochastic porous carbon, limiting understanding of electrode structure‐performance relationships. This work describes an approach, termed “print‐and‐plate,” to prepare porous electrodes by direct ink writing followed by conformal metal coating.

On oscillatory solutions of certain difference equations [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2006
Some difference equations with deviating arguments are discussed in the context of the oscillation problem. The aim of this paper is to present the sufficient conditions for oscillation of solutions of the equations discussed.

Quantum spin van der Pol oscillator -- a spin-based limit-cycle oscillator exhibiting quantum synchronization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We introduce a quantum spin van der Pol (vdP) oscillator as a prototypical model of quantum spin-based limit-cycle oscillators, which coincides with the quantum optical vdP oscillator in the high-spin limit. The system is described as a noisy limit-cycle oscillator in the semiclassical regime at large spin numbers, exhibiting frequency entrainment to a
