Oscillations Of Equations With Piecewise Constant Arguments

1991
Abstract As we shall see, within intervals of certain length, each of the above equations has the structure of a continuous dynamical system, while the continuity of the solution at the points that join consecutive intervals leads to difference equations.

Friedel oscillations in the force constants of metals

Physical Review B, 1997
Analytic expressions are derived for the long-range falloff of the force constants of nearly-free-electron metals. Comparison with exact results shows that Friedel oscillations dominate the force constants of fcc Al beyond the fourth-neighbor shell. Applications suggested include improving embedding theories of defect-related strain, improving methods ...

On the Constants of Motion for the Time-Dependent Oscillator

Europhysics Letters (EPL), 1986
We apply recent results on symmetries of equations of motion and equivalent Lagrangians in order to obtain the constants of motion and auxiliary conditions for the time-dependent oscillator.

Nonlinear oscillators with constant time delay by

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1956
Abstract A particular family of electronic oscillators uses an amplifier with a feedback path consisting of a network that provides constant time delay for any signal. Oscillation may occur when the total phase shift around the feedback loop is a multiple of 2π radians and the net amplification is unity. For a system composed of ideal elements ...

Stability of Linear Oscillating Systems With Constant Time Lag

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1949
Abstract This paper discusses the influence of constant time delay in transmission of the control signal upon the output system of a closed-cycle control device. The use of Nyquist’s stability criterion permits investigation of the control signal proportional to any derivative of the displacement.
