Tumour suppression by immune system through stochastic oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Biology, 2010
The well-known Kirschner-Panetta model for tumour-immune System interplay [Kirschner, D., Panetta, J.C., 1998. Modelling immunotherapy of the tumour-immune interaction. J. Math. Biol. 37 (3), 235-252] reproduces a number of features of this essential interaction, but it excludes the possibility of tumour suppression by the immune system in the absence ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Stable high repetition rate, single-frequency Q-switched operation via feedback suppression of relaxation oscillation

open access: yes, 1995
Stable, single-frequency, operation of a Q-switched laser requires initial establishment of a stable prelase, free from relaxation oscillation. Relying on natural decay of oscillation limits repetition rates and hence average power.

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

A nonlinear controller for flutter suppression: from simulation to wind tunnel testing

open access: yes, 2014
Active control for flutter suppression and limit cycle oscillation of a wind tunnel wing section is presented. Unsteady aerodynamics is modelled with strip theory and the incompressible two-dimensional classical theory of Theodorsen.

Mechanism Analysis of Multiple Disturbance Factors and Study of Suppression Strategies of DFIG Grid-Side Converters Caused by Sub-Synchronous Oscillation

open access: yes, 2023
With the increasing utilization of electronic equipment in the power system, sub-synchronous oscillation (SSO) has occurred many times and caused off-grid accidents because of power oscillation.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Power-frequency oscillation modeling, analysis and suppression of multi-VSG grid-connected system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) enhances the inertia response of renewable energy system by mimicking traditional synchronous generators (TSG), but inherits the power-frequency oscillation issue of TSG.

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling
