The Myth of Osiris in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies and the Inadequacy of Scientific Humanism
This paper explores William Golding’s Lord of the Flies (1954) through the lens of the author’s profound interest in ancient Egypt and the Osiris myth, as articulated in his travelogue An Egyptian Journal. Golding’s fascination with Plutarch’s account of

Common volume satellite studies of polar mesospheric clouds with Odin/OSIRIS tomography and AIM/CIPS nadir imaging [PDF]
Two important approaches for satellite studies of polar mesospheric clouds (PMCs) are nadir measurements adapting phase function analysis and limb measurements adapting spectroscopic analysis.

Galactic Scale Feedback Observed in the 3C 298 Quasar Host Galaxy [PDF]
We present high angular resolution multi-wavelength data of the 3C 298 radio-loud quasar host galaxy (z=1.439) taken using the W.M. Keck Observatory OSIRIS integral field spectrograph with adaptive optics, Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array ...

The RHAPSODY multinational study investigated 26 months of continuous treatment with 5‐grass‐pollen sublingual SLIT drops in adults with moderate‐to‐severe grass‐pollen‐induced allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. The primary efficacy endpoint (the average daily total combined score) showed statistically significant differences in favour of the active ...

Effect of volcanic aerosol on stratospheric NO2 and N2O5 from 2002–2014 as measured by Odin-OSIRIS and Envisat-MIPAS [PDF]
Following the large volcanic eruptions of Pinatubo in 1991 and El Chichón in 1982, decreases in stratospheric NO2 associated with enhanced aerosol were observed.

The Black Hole Mass in Brightest Cluster Galaxy NGC 6086
We present the first direct measurement of the central black hole mass, M_BH, in NGC 6086, the Brightest Cluster Galaxy (BCG) in Abell 2162. Our investigation demonstrates for the first time that stellar dynamical measurements of M_BH in BCGs are ...

The Nature of Christian Doctrine: A Conversation with My Critics
Abstract This article opens with a brief account of the six main themes of The Nature of Christian Doctrine, noting in particular the role of the early church as an ‘epistemic community’ of knowledge production, and the significant and helpful parallels between the modern scientific tool of ‘inference to the best explanation’ and early Christian ...

Noble gases and nitrogen in material from asteroid Bennu
Abstract We report the elemental and isotopic abundances of all stable noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) in eight particles from asteroid Bennu returned by NASA's OSIRIS‐REx mission. We also report nitrogen abundances and isotopic ratios that were analyzed alongside neon and argon in four additional Bennu particles.

Drift-corrected Odin-OSIRIS ozone product: algorithm and updated stratospheric ozone trends [PDF]
A small long-term drift in the Optical Spectrograph and Infrared Imager System (OSIRIS) stratospheric ozone product, manifested mostly since 2012, is quantified and attributed to a changing bias in the limb pointing knowledge of the instrument.

Dynamical Measurements of Black Hole Masses in Four Brightest Cluster Galaxies at 100 Mpc
We present stellar kinematics and orbit superposition models for the central regions of four Brightest Cluster Galaxies (BCGs), based upon integral-field spectroscopy at Gemini, Keck, and McDonald Observatories.
