Visible, near‐, and thermal infrared spectra of asteroid Bennu samples: Relationship to and implications for remote sensing of carbonaceous asteroids

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Remote spectroscopy is used to characterize the mineralogy and infer the history of planetary bodies. Carbonaceous asteroids, such as B‐type (101955) Bennu, represent the earliest stages of planet formation. B types have a blue (negative) spectral slope and comprise <5% of asteroids.

Wavelength Calibration for OSIRIS/GTC¹ Tunable Filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
OSIRIS (Optical System for Imaging and low Resolution Integrated Spectroscopy) is the first light instrument of the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC). It provides a flexible and competitive tunable filter (TF).

Common volume satellite studies of polar mesospheric clouds with Odin/OSIRIS tomography and AIM/CIPS nadir imaging [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2019
Two important approaches for satellite studies of polar mesospheric clouds (PMCs) are nadir measurements adapting phase function analysis and limb measurements adapting spectroscopic analysis.

The role of composition in the spectral evolution of carbonaceous asteroids as informed by Bennu sample return

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Near‐Earth rubble‐pile asteroids Bennu and Ryugu are part of the carbonaceous taxonomic complex (C‐complex), and samples returned from both bodies resemble the most aqueously altered carbonaceous chondrites. However, telescopic and spacecraft visible–near infrared (VIS–NIR) reflectance spectra of Ryugu exhibit a red (positive) spectral slope ...

The Effect of Cryopreserved Human Placental Tissues on Biofilm Formation of Wound-Associated Pathogens

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials, 2018
Biofilm, a community of bacteria, is tolerant to antimicrobial agents and ubiquitous in chronic wounds. In a chronic DFU (Diabetic Foot Ulcers) clinical trial, the use of a human cryopreserved viable amniotic membrane (CVAM) resulted in a high rate of ...

Random block-coordinate methods for inconsistent convex optimisation problems

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Algorithms for Sciences and Engineering, 2023
We develop a novel randomised block-coordinate primal-dual algorithm for a class of non-smooth ill-posed convex programs. Lying midway between the celebrated Chambolle–Pock primal-dual algorithm and Tseng’s accelerated proximal gradient method, we ...

Mineralogy, mineral chemistry, and redox equilibria in ten aggregate particles from asteroid Bennu

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Examination of 10 Bennu aggregate particles has revealed the presence of many phases which taken together can provide constraints on the oxygen fugacity (fO2) of Bennu samples. Phyllosilicates (saponite and serpentine), carbonates, oxides (magnetite, chromite), sulfides (pyrrhotite, pentlandite), phosphate (hydroxyapatite, Na‐Mg‐phosphate ...

Effect of volcanic aerosol on stratospheric NO2 and N2O5 from 2002–2014 as measured by Odin-OSIRIS and Envisat-MIPAS [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
Following the large volcanic eruptions of Pinatubo in 1991 and El Chichón in 1982, decreases in stratospheric NO2 associated with enhanced aerosol were observed.

The Goldilocks Effect: How the “Just Right” Writing Styles of Global Corporate Responsibility Frameworks Shapes Their Use by Businesses

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The 21st century has witnessed a surge in the number of global corporate responsibility (GCR) frameworks issued by international organizations (IOs). Our study investigates whether and to what extent these frameworks shape businesses' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) communications.
