Random block-coordinate methods for inconsistent convex optimisation problems

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Algorithms for Sciences and Engineering, 2023
We develop a novel randomised block-coordinate primal-dual algorithm for a class of non-smooth ill-posed convex programs. Lying midway between the celebrated Chambolle–Pock primal-dual algorithm and Tseng’s accelerated proximal gradient method, we ...

Noble gases and nitrogen in material from asteroid Bennu

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report the elemental and isotopic abundances of all stable noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) in eight particles from asteroid Bennu returned by NASA's OSIRIS‐REx mission. We also report nitrogen abundances and isotopic ratios that were analyzed alongside neon and argon in four additional Bennu particles.

The Effect of Cryopreserved Human Placental Tissues on Biofilm Formation of Wound-Associated Pathogens

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials, 2018
Biofilm, a community of bacteria, is tolerant to antimicrobial agents and ubiquitous in chronic wounds. In a chronic DFU (Diabetic Foot Ulcers) clinical trial, the use of a human cryopreserved viable amniotic membrane (CVAM) resulted in a high rate of ...

Drift-corrected Odin-OSIRIS ozone product: algorithm and updated stratospheric ozone trends [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2018
A small long-term drift in the Optical Spectrograph and Infrared Imager System (OSIRIS) stratospheric ozone product, manifested mostly since 2012, is quantified and attributed to a changing bias in the limb pointing knowledge of the instrument.

The Black Hole Mass in Brightest Cluster Galaxy NGC 6086

open access: yes, 2010
We present the first direct measurement of the central black hole mass, M_BH, in NGC 6086, the Brightest Cluster Galaxy (BCG) in Abell 2162. Our investigation demonstrates for the first time that stellar dynamical measurements of M_BH in BCGs are ...

Non‐innocent solvents in meteorite extractions: Evidence for artifact formation

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Solvent extraction is a cornerstone of meteoritic organic and inorganic chemistry, yet the assumption that common solvents act as chemically inert media is becoming increasingly untenable. This study reports that low‐molecular‐weight alcohols, particularly methanol and ethanol, are “non‐innocent” solvents when used to extract soluble sulfur ...

Red Eyes on Wolf-Rayet Stars: 60 New Discoveries via Infrared Color Selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have spectroscopically identified 60 Galactic Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars, including 38 nitrogen types (WN) and 22 carbon types (WC). Using photometry from the Spitzer/GLIMPSE and 2MASS databases, the WRs were selected via a method we have established that ...

The Goldilocks Effect: How the “Just Right” Writing Styles of Global Corporate Responsibility Frameworks Shapes Their Use by Businesses

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The 21st century has witnessed a surge in the number of global corporate responsibility (GCR) frameworks issued by international organizations (IOs). Our study investigates whether and to what extent these frameworks shape businesses' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) communications.
