OSL dating of sediments from the Gobi Desert, Southern Mongolia

Quaternary Geochronology, 2010
Abstract The present study focuses on the chronological relationship between alternating dune sand and silty water-lain sediments in the central part of the Khongoryn Els dune field in the Gobi Desert, Southern Mongolia. The 23 m high section evolved from the construction of a natural dam by west–east moving sand dunes and fluvial inundation by a ...

OSL dating of paleoshorelines at Lagkor Tso, western Tibet

Quaternary Geochronology, 2009
Lagkor Tso, a saline lake located south of Gertse in western Tibet exhibits spectacular flights of paleoshorelines. Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating on quartz using the single-aliquot regenerative-dose (SAR) protocol from five paleoshoreline deposits shows that the lake level was 130 m higher than the present lake surface 5.2 ka ago.

Application of OSL dating on coastal sediments

2011
The main aim of this research work is the application of contemporary techniques in optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating to reveal the chronology of coastal deposits from various geographical and geological settings and to investigate the relationship between periods of sediment accumulation and climate change.

Towards the development of a preheat procedure for OSL dating of quartz

Radiation Measurements, 1998
Abstract Isothermal decay data for the natural optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) of a quartz sample from the Kimberley region of Western Australia are presented. These show that >99% of the initial OSL signal measured using a broad-band blue/green-light stimulation source is derived from a single trap.

OSL dating of flood sediments in the North China Plain

Quaternary Geochronology, 2019
Abstract Partial bleaching is a major challenge in OSL (Optically Stimulated Luminescence) dating of flood sediments. Here we investigated both modern and palaeoflood sediments in the North China Plain. It demonstrates that most of the OSL ages for either coarse-grained (CG) or fine-grained (FG) quartz were overestimated in different levels.
