Influence of nanohydroxyapatite mouthwash on the growth of Candida albicans biofilm on milled denture surfaces: An in vitro study

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose There is a need for effective solutions for the persistent prevalence of denture stomatitis (DS) in denture‐wearing populations. This study assessed the impact of nanohydroxyapatite (nanoHAP) nanoparticles on Candida albicans biofilm formation on milled polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) denture bases.

Preimaginal development of Aedes aegypti L. (Diptera: Culicidae) in brackish water gives rise to adult mosquitoes with thicker cuticles and greater insecticide resistance

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
The principal arboviral vector Aedes aegypti can develop in coastal brackish water field habitats (0.5–15 g/L salt) with larvae possessing thicker cuticles and greater resistance to the larvicide Temephos. Females emerging from brackish water‐developing preimaginal stages are now shown to have thicker and remodelled leg and abdominal cuticles and ...

Starch synthesis in Brachypodium distachyon endosperm occurs in dynamic, connected amyloplast compartments

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary The morphology of starch granules is a major determinant of the functional and nutritional properties of starch and is highly variable among cereal species. Much of this morphological variation stems from differences in the spatial and temporal patterns of starch granule initiation in amyloplasts during grain development.

The Outcome of Intracellular Selenomonas sputigena and its Impact on Gingival Keratinocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Selenomonas sputigena is an understudied oral pathobiont associated with periodontitis and dental caries. We recently demonstrated that S. sputigena binds to gingival epithelial cells (GECs), where afterwards the bacterium causes robust in vitro pro‐inflammatory cytokine production and migration of monocytes and neutrophils.

Trans‐QTL Alliance of HKT1 and PHL7 Modulate Salinity Stress Tolerance and Enhance Crop Yield Endurance

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Salinity stress can cause significant yield losses in crops because of its major impact on reproductive success. The complexity of salinity stress responses, particularly their tissue‐ and cell‐specific regulation, continues to challenge the translation of molecular insights into tangible crop yield improvements.
