Reverse-osmosis membranes by plasma polymerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Thin allyl amine polymer films were developed using plasma polymerization. Resulting dry composite membranes effectively reject sodium chloride during reverse osmosis.

Biomimetic Glycosaminoglycan‐Analog Hydrogel for Improved Embolization of Aneurysms: Environment‐Selective Swelling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biomimetic glycosaminoglycan analog hydrogels exhibit suitable and robust mechanical properties, as well as hemocompatibility and biocompatibility, making them ideal for the embolization of intracranial aneurysms. Notably, the hydrogel's environment‐selective swelling properties enable complete blockage of the aneurysm cavity while preventing ...

Pilot scale study of chlorination-induced transport property changes of a seawater reverse osmosis membrane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A pilot-scale study was performed to assess variations of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane water permeance (A) and salt retention (Robs) induced by chlorination and to compare them with those observed at the lab-scale. A chlorination protocol was adapted to

New exact travelling wave solutions for the K(2,2) equation with osmosis dispersion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, by using bifurcation method, we successfully find the K(2,2)equation with osmosis dispersion possess two new types of travelling wave solu tions called kink-like wave solutions and antikink-like wave solutions. They are defined on some semifinal bounded domains and possess properties of kink waves and anti-kink waves.

Morphometric‐Assisted Prediction of Developmental Toxicity Using Stem Cell‐Based Embryo Models in Microwells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This proof‐of‐concept study involves high‐throughput teratogenicity screening of compounds using XEn/EpiCs, a 3D stem cell‐based embryo model, within microwells. The term ‘morphotoxicity’ is introduced to complement traditional cytotoxicity assays through automated feature extraction and machine‐learning‐assisted classification of morphologies.
