Robust Mix‐Charged Polyzwitterionic Hydrogels for Ultra‐Efficient Atmospheric Water Harvesting and Evaporative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional atmospheric water‐harvesting hydrogels prioritize hygroscopicity at the expense of mechanics, hindering its practical applications. The proposed hygroscopic mix‐charged polyzwitterionic hydrogel(THMPH) achieves a trade‐off between high water absorption and exceptional mechanical robustness through a strength gradient‐enhanced ionic cross ...

The comparative osmoregulatory ability of two water beetle genera whose species span the fresh-hypersaline gradient in inland waters (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae, Hydrophilidae).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
A better knowledge of the physiological basis of salinity tolerance is essential to understanding the ecology and evolutionary history of organisms that have colonized inland saline waters.

Electrical Potential, Mass Transport and Velocity Distribution of Electro-osmotic Flow in a Nanochannel by Incorporating the Variation of Dielectric Constant of Aqueous Electrolyte Solution [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We consider a coupled system of Navier Stokes, Maxwell Stefan and Poisson Boltzmann equations by incorporating the variation of dielectric constant, which governs the electro osmotic flow in nano channel, describing the evolution of the velocity, concentration and potential fields of dissolved constituents in an aqueous electrolyte solution.

Electrochemical Cell Designs for Efficient Carbon Dioxide Reduction and Water Electrolysis: Status and Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses recent innovations in electrochemical CO2 reduction reactions (eCO2RR) and hydrogen evolution reaction cell designs. The latest advancements in in situ cells for operando characterization are also presented. Optimizations in flow patterns, membrane electrode assemblies, electrolyte engineering, and counter‐anodic reactions provide

Effects of operating factors on osmotic dehydration of broccoli stalk slices

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2016
In this study, effects of sucrose concentration (40–60% w/v), immersion time (1–5 h), and temperature (25–65°C) on water loss (WL) and solute gain (SG) during osmotic dehydration of broccoli stalk slices were quantitatively investigated using response ...

Stochastic modeling of hyposmotic lysis and characterization of different osmotic stability subgroups of human erythrocytes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This study proposes a novel stochastic model for the study of hyposmotic hemolysis. This model is capable of reproducing both the kinetics in the transient phase and the lysis equilibrium in the stationary phase, as well as the variability of the experimental measurements.
