USP30 inhibits wound healing in diabetic foot ulcers by promoting TRAF6‐induced ferroptosis and angiogenesis inhibition

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
High glucose upregulates USP30 in HUVECs, which deubiquitinates and stabilizes TRAF6. Stabilized TRAF6 suppresses GPX4 and SLC7A11, increases ROS/MDA/lipid peroxidation, and activates ferroptosis and apoptosis, leading to impaired angiogenesis and delayed wound healing.

The miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell injury in diabetic nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Suppression of miR‐145‐5p alleviates DN‐associated renal tissue damage by inhibiting NRF2/SLC7A11‐mediated ferroptosis of RTECs. ABSTRACT Purpose This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism by which the miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell (RTEC) injury in diabetic nephropathy (DN ...

Temporal distribution of acute kidney injury–related hospitalizations after initiation of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors: A nationwide claims database analysis in older adults with an independent complementary single‐center eGFR analysis

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Among 190 older adults who experienced AKI‐related hospitalization after SGLT2 inhibitor initiation, 31.1% were hospitalized within 30 days. In an independent single‐center cohort, sustained early eGFR decline was associated with older age and use of one or two triple‐whammy‐related drug classes.

Guideline for Medication Management of Distressing Symptoms in Older Patients Receiving End‐of‐Life Palliative Care

open access: yesJournal of Evidence-Based Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Older patients receiving end‐of‐life palliative care often present with multiple geriatric syndromes, frailty, and comorbid symptom burden, resulting in a high risk of medication‐related harm. This guideline focuses on pharmacological management of distressing symptoms in older patients receiving end‐of‐life or hospice‐oriented palliative care,

Outbreaks of Granulomatous Disease Associated With Vibrio harveyi Infection in Grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × E. lanceolatus) Aquaculture in Taiwan

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Between 2015 and 2024, outbreaks of muscular and visceral granulomatous disease, resulting in moderate‐to‐severe mortality in farmed groupers, occurred in southern Taiwan. Initially, affected groupers were screened for granuloma‐associated pathogens, including Mycobacterium spp., Nocardia spp., Photobacterium damselae and Edwardsiella spp ...

Erythrocyte ‘Feierzeit’ reaction: Novel filamentous and vesicular response to n‐butyl acetate

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Human erythrocytes (red blood cells; RBCs) undergo spontaneous disassembly after several hours of exposure to n‐butyl acetate (nBA). Images of the morphological changes were captured in time‐lapse sequences using differential interference contrast (DIC) light microscopy.
