A Rare Allele of ST5 From Wild Rice Enhances Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel salt‐tolerance gene ST5W, characterized by a unique 36‐bp promoter insertion, is found exclusively in a small subset of Oryza rufipogon and is absent in cultivated rice. Field trials confirm ST5W significantly enhances rice yield across diverse genetic backgrounds under saline conditions.

Response of microbial activity and community structure to decreasing soil osmotic and matric potential

open access: yes, 2011
Low soil water content (low matric potential) and salinity (low osmotic potential) occur frequently in soils, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions.

Polymer tensiometers with ceramic cones: direct observations of matric pressures in drying soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Measuring soil water potentials is crucial to characterize vadose zone processes. Conventional tensiometers only measure until approximately −0.09 MPa, and indirect methods may suffer from the non-uniqueness in the relationship between matric potential ...

CD4+ Tregs Drive Post‐Ischemic Sprouting Angiogenesis via Endothelial YY1/MAML1 Reactivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microvascular complications of diabetes are chronic diseases of small vessels. We previously found that CD4+ regulatory T‐cells (Tregs) are markedly reduced in type 2 diabetes (T2D) after ischemic injury in both mice and humans, and that Treg deficiency in immunodeficient mice impairs vascular regeneration.

Germination of Senna Occidentalis link: seed at different osmotic potential levels

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2003
The objective of this research was to study the effect of osmotic potential and salinity on the germination of seeds of Senna occidentalis, with and without a change of solutions. The percentage and rates of germination decreased according to decrease of

Germination at low osmotic potential as a selection criteria for drought stress tolerance in sweet corn

open access: yes, 2015
Water stress can affect germination by decreasing the percentage of germination. A study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of different osmotic potentials (MPa) on proline content and percentage seed germination of corn.

Predicting the Chemical Potential and Osmotic Pressure of Polysaccharide Solutions by Molecular Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Differences in the chemical potential of water and the resulting osmotic pressure across semipermeable membranes are of fundamental importance for many biological systems.
