Here it is shown that graphene membranes that separate 2 gases at identical pressure are deflected by osmotic pressure. The osmotic pressure is a consequence of differences in gas permeation rates into a graphene enclosed cavity. The deflection of the few layer graphene membranes is detected by an interferometric technique for measuring their tension ...

Water activity in lamellar stacks of lipid bilayers: "Hydration forces" revisited
Water activity and its relationship with interactions stabilising lamellar stacks of mixed lipid bilayers in their fluid state are investigated by means of osmotic pressure measurements coupled with small-angle x-ray scattering. The (electrically-neutral)

Osmotic Stabilisation of Concentrated Emulsions and Foams [PDF]
In the absence of coalescence, coarsening of emulsions (and foams) is controlled by molecular diffusion of dispersed phase between droplets/bubbles. Studies of dilute emulsions have shown how the osmotic pressure of a trapped species within droplets can ``osmotically stabilise'' the emulsion.

ELECTRIFICATION OF WATER AND OSMOTIC PRESSURE [PDF]
1. Amphoteric electrolytes form salts with both acids and alkalies. It is shown for two amphoteric electrolytes, Al(OH)3 and gelatin, that in the presence of an acid salt water diffuses through a collodion membrane into a solution of these substances as if its particles were negatively charged, while water diffuses into solutions of these electrolytes,

CALCULATION OF OSMOTIC PRESSURE USING A CLOSED SYSTEM MODEL [PDF]
In this work we have used a closed system model to derive an analytical equation for the osmotic pressure of two component electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions. In order to do so, we have used an equation of state, known as the dense system equation
