OSNR sensitivity of multi-level modulation formats

A simple analytical method to estimate the OSNR sensitivity of multi-level amplitude, phase and combined modulation formats is shown. Results are verified by numerical simulations.

OSNR monitoring based on the correction to the error of OSNR for coherent optical systems

We propose a novel method for optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) monitoring by the correction to the error of OSNR in high speed coherent optical communication systems. We calculate the total power and the total noise power by the real and imaginary part of the coherent detection signal.
