Geobiology of a lower Cambrian carbonate platform, Pedroche Formation, Ossa Morena Zone, Spain [PDF]

open access: yesPalaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2013
The Cambrian Pedroche Formation comprises a mixed siliciclastic–carbonate succession recording subtidal deposition on a marine platform. Carbonate carbon isotope chemostratigraphy confirms previous biostratigraphic assignment of the Pedroche Formation to the Atdabanian regional stage of Siberia, correlative to Cambrian Series 2.

Detrital zircon similarities and dissimilarities between the Iberian Pyrite Belt, Ossa-Morena Zone and Meguma

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2023
Despite the so-called exotic nature of the South Portuguese Zone relatively to the other major domains of the Iberian Massif of peri-Gondwanan affinity, Devonian detrital rocks of the oldest strata in the Iberian Pyrite Belt have a remarkable ...

Devonian corals of the Vosges Mountains, France [PDF]

open access: yesActa Palaeontologica Polonica
The Saxo-Thuringian Zone of western Europe is a tectonostratigraphic unit that includes Devonian sediments. Usually, the sediments are deep-water siliciclastics and variously affected by regional metamorphism.

Modelling of the Cala area (Ossa-Morena Zone)

open access: yes, 2015
The Cala project area is a region ca. 400 km 2 in size that comprises several mines and prospects hosted by Palaeozoic rocks. The Cala area is located in the southern segment of the Iberian Massif that forms the pre-Mesozoic basement in most of the Iberian Peninsula and constitutes the westernmost extent of the European Variscan orogeny. More precisely,

Preliminary characterization of the deformation of the alkaline and peralkaline orthogneisses from the Blastomylonitic Belt (Ossa-Morena Zone)

open access: yes, 2023
Resumo alargadoSUMMARY: In the Blastomylonitic Belt (northernmost Ossa-Morena Zone), alkaline and peralkaline orthogneisses are found as elongated bodies with WNW-ESE to NW-SE orientation hosted within a strongly deformed Neoproterozoic to Lower Cambrian

High strain peralkaline orthogneisses within orogenic scale shear zones: geological and structural mapping in the Arronches region (Tomar-Badajoz-Córdoba shear zone, Ossa-Morena Zone) [PDF]

open access: yes
The lithological units in the Arronches region (included within the Arronches tectonic unit, Tomar-Badajoz-Córdoba Shear Zone, northernmost Ossa-Morena Zone) and in particular the peralkaline orthogneisses therein, have been the target for petrological ...

Lithotectonic units of the Cabeço de Vide Massif (Ossa-Morena Zone, SW Iberian Massif): a bedrock map to decipher superimposed orogenies

open access: yesJournal of Maps
This study provides a new cartographic framework for a geologically complex region in the SW Iberian Massif (central-east Portugal). We have redefined lithological ensembles and clarified structural relationships between rock types (unconformities and ...
