Rb-Sr and single - zircon grain 207Pb / 206Pb chronology of the Monesterio granodiorite and related migmatites. Evidence of a Late Cambrian melting event in the Ossa-Morena Zone, Iberian Massif

open access: yesEstudios Geologicos, 1999

Petrographic and Geochemical Characterisation of Organic Matter of Precambrian Black Shales from Ossa-Morena Zone, South of Portugal

open access: yes, 2023
Black shale (BS) lithologies are represented in Precambrian (Ediacaran) of Ossa-Morena Zone, SW of Iberian Massif, through the Série Negra lithological succession.

Cadomian/Pan-African consolidation of the Iberian Massif assessed by its detrital and inherited zircon populations: is the ~610Ma age peak a persistent Cadomian magmatic inheritance or the key to unravel its Pan-African basement?

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2023
This work assessed the age distribution of Cadomian/Pan-African orogenic events (550-590 and 605-790Ma, respectively) in several zones of Iberian Massif by means of detrital and inherited zircon analysis compilation.

Global Comparison of Aqueous Geochemistry and Dissolved H2/CH4 in Continental Low Temperature Serpentinization–Influenced Environments

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 3, March 2026.
Conceptual diagram of hydrological and geochemical processes within the Santa Elena Ophiolite, Costa Rica. It highlights watershed cross‐sections, soil genesis, hyperalkaline Type II waters (pH > 11.6) with calcite crust and trapped H2/CH4 gases, seepage into surface waters, storm‐impacted stream profiles, weathered vs.

Effect of Deformation Mechanisms on Magnetic Record in Marble Shear Zones

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Processes that form and deform any rock leave distinct imprints on its microstructure. The description and interpretation of these microstructural features aids in understanding rock's evolution. The anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility is widely regarded as a method for characterizing rock microstructures.

Rupture and Relamination of Continental Lithosphere in a Subduction System (Variscan Orogeny, SW Iberia)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Relamination is closely connected to subduction zones. Despite the numerous high‐P metamorphic belts recognized on Earth, relamination remains a poorly documented process. We present a continental subduction zone where the exhuming high‐P rocks became a relaminant under the upper plate.

Mapping of crustal scale tectonic boundaries in the Ossa-Morena Zone using reprocessed IBERSEIS reflection seismic data

open access: yes, 2010
The IBERSEIS deep seismic reflection profile imaged crustal scale structures in the SW Iberian Variscan belt, crossing the South Portuguese Zone, the Ossa-Morena Zone and the Central Iberian Zone in Spain. Two subsets of the profile, corresponding to the

On the Late-variscan Occurrence of High-K Dykes at the Ossa-Morena Zone

open access: yes, 2018
Geochemical data of the high-K felsic dykes of the Ossa-Morena Zone (OMZ) are here reported for the first time. These microporphyritic rocks were collected in the shoshonitic Veiros pluton and are interpreted as corresponding to the NW-SE dykes mapped in the area.

The Uplift of Armorica and the Bretonian Movements of the Variscan Orogeny‐New Insights From Detrital Zircons in the Early Carboniferous Terrigenous Rocks of the Laval Basin (Armorican Massif, France)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract In the French Armorican Massif, the Bretonian phase of the Variscan orogeny has been defined by the Late Devonian (Famennian‐Frasnian) erosion gap, and the Early Carboniferous (Tournaisian) syntectonic terrigenous deposits of the l’Huisserie formation in the Laval basin in the Central‐North Armorican Domain, ascribed to the Armorica ...

Exploitation of Mining Resources in El Argar Culture: Bronze Age Metallurgy in the Hinterland of the Western Betic Cordillera (Southeastern Iberian Peninsula)

open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 40, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
ABSTRACT This research addresses the territorial organisation of metallurgical production during the El Argar Bronze Age (2200–1550 cal bc) in the inner areas of El Argar territory through lead‐isotope and trace element analyses of geological copper ores, archaeometallurgical remains and copper‐based artefacts.
