Distraction Osteogenesis for Brachymetatarsia by Using Internal Device

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2017
Summary:. Congenital brachymetatarsia most commonly involves the fourth ray and may be combined with metacarpal shortening. Now, many reports demonstrated the usefulness of distraction osteogenesis for lengthening of the metatarsals by using an external ...

CORRECTION OF FACIAL ASYMMETRY ASSOCIATED WITH UNILATERAL HYPOPLASTIC MANDIBLE WITH MONOBLOC DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS IN ADULT

open access: yesPakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal, 2014
Facial asymmetry can be corrected by bimaxillary orthognathic surgery and distraction osteogenesis. We report a case of facial asymmetry which was corrected using monobloc distraction osteogenesis. A monobloc was created using an osteosynthesis fixation

Distraction force promotes the osteogenic differentiation of Gli1+ cells in facial sutures via primary cilia-mediated Hedgehog signaling pathway

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy
Background Trans-sutural distraction osteogenesis (TSDO) involves the application of distraction force to facial sutures to stimulate osteogenesis. Gli1+ cells in the cranial sutures play an important role in bone growth.

Cephalometric evaluation of patients treated by maxillary anterior segmental distraction

open access: yesJournal of Cleft Lip Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies, 2018
Background: Maxillary hypoplasia secondary to repaired cleft lips and palates is common. The extent of hypoplasia is dependent on several factors. It is not possible to correct maxillary hypoplasia by conventional orthodontics and relapse is common after

Mechanotransduction and musculoskeletal regeneration: Molecular mechanisms and interdisciplinary applications

open access: yesGenes and Diseases
Distraction osteogenesis, or the Illizarov technique, induces bone regeneration using distractive mechanical forces. Nevertheless, Wolff's law holds that bone adapts to reverse compressive mechanical loads, growing denser in areas of high pressure and ...

Bone regeneration during osteoporosis: a translational in vivo monitoring of callus mechanical parameters

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
IntroductionRegenerating osteoporotic bone remains challenging due to healing complications such as non-unions. Distraction osteogenesis is a promising technique for bone repair, but its efficacy under osteoporotic conditions is poorly understood.

miR-155 targets SOCS1 to modulate the phenotype transition of M1 macrophage in distraction osteogenesis promoted by PTH administration

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Background Distraction osteogenesis (DO) is a highly effective method for bone regeneration. However, its prolonged treatment duration limits its clinical application.

The reconstruction of large mandibular defect with combined distraction osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvances in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
We describe one case of the rehabilitation for large mandibular defect by the combined application of internal curvilinear and linear distraction osteogenesis. In the first operation, the transport discs were produced on both sides of the defect.
