We report an electrochemical biosensor that employs biopanning‐derived affinity peptides as selective receptors on a multifunctional chitosan–zwitterionic–gold nanoparticle (CS–ZI–AuNPs) nanohydrogel interface. The CS–ZI–AuNPs nanohydrogel exhibits antifouling properties, abundant sites for stable peptide immobilization, and efficient electrochemical ...

Objective Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is a common indication for long‐term glucocorticoid (GC) treatment. Bone‐protective and gastroprotective medications are recommended for those at high risk of adverse events from GCs, but no trials have evaluated their effectiveness in PMR.

Objective Osteoporosis causes fractures that further increase the disease burden of rheumatoid arthritis (RA); however, osteoporosis treatment rates remain low. Although several studies have reported that biologic or targeted synthetic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drugs (b/tsDMARDs) can prevent or improve osteoporosis in RA, our large‐scale, real ...

Which strength and balance activities are safe and efficacious for individuals with specific challenges (osteoporosis, vertebral fractures, frailty, dementia)?: A Narrative review [PDF]
Physical activity guidelines advocate the inclusion of strength and balance activities, twice a week, for adults and older adults, but with caveat that in some individuals there will be certain movements and activities that could lead to adverse events ...

This original research used medication administration data to explore adherence to treatment guidelines for the most common osteoporosis medications in long‐term residential aged care (RAC) in Australia. The paper highlights gaps in adherence to treatment guidelines that must be addressed to improve outcomes of older adults living in RAC.

Impact of vitamin D deficiency on fluctuation of calcium and parathyroid hormone levels in postmenopausal osteoporosis [PDF]
The primary role of vitamin D is regulation of calcium, phosphorus and bone metabolism. Vitamin D status assessment is based on measuring of 25 (OH) D concentrations, and disorders of vitamin D status may be manifested as a vitamin D insufficiency ...

Strontium potently inhibits mineralisation in bone-forming primary rat osteoblast cultures and reduces numbers of osteoclasts in mouse marrow cultures [PDF]
The basic mechanisms by which strontium ranelate acts on bone are still unclear. We show that an important action of strontium salts is to block calcification in cultures of osteoblasts, the bone-forming cells.

This study develops a nano‐enzyme patch (ezPatch) targeting bone interfaces. Utilizing ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer (LMCT) catalysis and bone‐targeting ligands on copper nanosheets, ezPatch simultaneously scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and generates oxygen in situ at bone‐losing sites.

Women with epilepsy: Evidence‐based counseling across the lifespan
Abstract Women with epilepsy (WWE) encounter distinct and evolving challenges across the lifespan that require clinical management extending beyond seizure control alone. Although awareness of sex‐specific aspects of epilepsy has increased, important gaps remain in their integration into routine care.
