Two New Species of Primula Sect. Auganthus From Sichuan, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
We describe two new sister species, Primula rongrong and P. fujiangensis (sect. Auganthus), from Sichuan, China. Phylogenomic analyses (chloroplast + nuclear SNPs) confirm their sister relationship within the section. Significant morphological divergence (PCA of 16 traits; **p < 0.05 for 8 characters) and reproductive isolation (13.75% interspecific vs.

Paying Patience Back to Impatiens (Balsaminaceae): Hidden Biodiversity in the Qinling‐Bashan Mountains, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
This article reveals the hidden biodiversity of Impatiens from the Qinling‐Bashan Mountains, China. Five new species are described here, and five species are reported from the Qinling‐Bashan Mountains for the first time. ABSTRACT The Qinling‐Bashan Mountains mark the natural division of the temperate and subtropical climate zones in China.

Transforming Growth Factor Beta: Does it Direct Otic Capsule Formation?

open access: yes, 1991
Interactions between the epithelium of the otocyst and surrounding periotic mesenchyme direct the formation of the capsule of the mammalian inner ear. In the present study, we have characterized the temporal-spatial distribution of transforming growth ...

Towards a micropositioning system for targeted drug delivery in wireless capsule endoscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper describes a novel micropositioning mechanism for achieving 1ml of targeted drug delivery within wireless capsule endoscopes. The mechanism allows a needle to be positioned within a 22.5° segment of a cylindrical capsule and be extendible by up

Abnormalities of the Facial Nerve in Temporal Bones With Inner Ear Malformations

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 2, April 2025.
This study investigates the abnormalities of the facial nerve in temporal bones with inner ear malformations (IEMFs), using histopathological evaluations from 28 human temporal bone specimens. It reveals a high prevalence of facial nerve hypoplasia, narrow facial recess, and aberrant nerve positioning, highlighting the surgical challenges these ...

Outcome of Surgery on Neurocognitive Functioning in Patients with Otic Capsule Defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
There are two forms of otic capsule defect: Perilymph Fistula (PLF), a tear that typically occurs in the round window; and Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence (SCD), a thinning or absence of bone between the otic capsule and the brain.

Systematics of the fleshy‐fruited Sonerileae (Melastomataceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 1, Page 39-65, February 2025.
Abstract With approximately 1080 species, Sonerileae is the second‐largest tribe in the Melastomataceae. Approximately 40% of the Sonerileae species belong to fleshy‐fruited genera (Catanthera, Heteroblemma, Kendrickia, Medinilla, Pachycentria, Plethiandra).
