Self-tuning to the Hopf bifurcation in fluctuating systems

open access: yes, 2005
The problem of self-tuning a system to the Hopf bifurcation in the presence of noise and periodic external forcing is discussed. We find that the response of the system has a non-monotonic dependence on the noise-strength, and displays an amplified ...

Otoacoustic emissions as an instrument of epidemiological surveillance in the health of the workers

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2011
Introduction: The noise is a harmful agent to the hearing, being frequent in urban and work environments. Among the structures of the hearing system, the outer hair cells are the first to be injured, and otoacoustic emissions identify minimal cochlear ...

Galactic Free-free and H-alpha Emission [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
This document provides a brief summary estimate of Galactic free-free emission and H-alpha emission and their relationship. Particular emphasis is placed on estimating the potential free-free emission in the region of significant confusion for CMB anisotropy measurements.

Triagem auditiva: concordância entre os métodos comportamental e objetivo Hearing screening: agreement among behavioral and objective methods

open access: yesRevista CEFAC, 2012
OBJETIVO: verificar a concordância entre os resultados da triagem auditiva por meio de observação de respostas comportamentais e de emissões otoacústicas evocadas transientes.

Sensory Systems as Cybernetic Systems that Require Awareness of Alternatives to Interact with the World: Analysis of the Brain-Receptor Loop in Norwich's Entropy Theory of Perception [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Introduction & Objectives: Norwich’s Entropy Theory of Perception (1975 [1] -present) stands alone. It explains many firing-rate behaviors and psychophysical laws from bare theory.

Mid infrared emission of nearby Herbig Ae/Be stars [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
We present mid IR spectro-photometric imaging of a sample of eight nearby ($D \leq 240$pc) Herbig Ae/Be stars. The spectra are dominated by photospheric emission (HR6000), featureless infrared excess emission (T~Cha), broad silicate emission feature (HR5999) and the infrared emission bands (HD 97048, HD 97300, TY~CrA, HD 176386).

Einstein's coefficients and the nature of thermal radio emission [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
The relations between Einstein's coefficients for spontaneous and induced emission of radiation with account for the natural linewidth are obtained . It is shown that thermal radio emission is stimulated one . Thermal radio emission of non-uniform gas is considered .
