The VOR gain of vHIT in the affected canal was significantly smaller than that in the contralateral canal in p‐BPPV, but not in h‐BPPV. The caloric responses of the affected canal are reduced to a significantly larger extent in h‐BPPV compared to p‐BPPV.

The heterogeneity of mammalian utricular cells over the course of development
Single‐cell RNA‐seq identified several cell clusters in whole mouse utricle sensory epithelia from the neonatal period to adulthood. New HCs mainly differentiated from Sox9 progenitor cells, and only a few were produced by mitotic proliferation. Ubch10 cells could generate HCs mitotically in adulthood.

Electric fields from both extremely low‐frequency magnetic fields (ELF‐MF) and alternating current (AC) stimulations impact human neurophysiology. As the retinal photoreceptors, vestibular hair cells are graded potential cells and are sensitive to electric fields. Electrophosphene and magnetophosphene literature suggests different impacts of AC and ELF‐

Immediate repeated testing (IRT) for BPPV: A cost‐effective examination
Abstract Objective To show that a negative Dix‐Hallpike test or Pagnini‐McClure test may convert into positive after head shaking in cases of semicircular canalith jam. Methods This is a retrospective study, where 768 cases of BPPV were studied of which 36 were found to have canalith jam.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and vestibular impairment among older adults with dizziness
Abstract Objective This article aimed to investigate older adults visiting a geriatric institution for a bone density measurement who reported dizziness on a daily or weekly basis (but who are not seeking care for dizziness), according to BPPV, vestibular function, walking abilities, and frequency of falls.

Abstract Otoliths are inner‐ear structures of all teleost fish with functional importance for hearing and balance. The otoliths usually consist of aragonite, a polymorph of calcium carbonate, but may also take the form partly or entirely of vaterite, a different polymorph of calcium carbonate.

Inner ear morphology in the Atlantic molly Poecilia mexicana [PDF]
Fishes show an amazing diversity in hearing abilities, inner ear structures, and otolith morphology. Inner ear morphology, however, has not yet been investigated in detail in any member of the diverse order Cyprinodontiformes.
