Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Efficacy and safety of PICOPREP tailored dosing compared with PICOPREP day-before dosing for colon cleansing: a multi-centric randomised study

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2017
Background and study aims The success of any colonoscopy procedure depends upon the quality of bowel preparation. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of a new tailored dosing (TD) regimen compared with the approved PICOPREP day-before dosing regimen ...

Comparative cranial biomechanics reveal macroevolutionary trends in theropod dinosaurs, with emphasis on Tyrannosauroidea

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Tyrannosaurus is viewed as a model organism in vertebrate paleontology, with numerous studies analyzing its feeding biomechanics. Nonetheless, the evolution of this feeding performance has been under‐addressed in Tyrannosauroidea, especially in basal tyrannosauroids. Here we used muscle‐force reconstruction and finite element analysis (FEA) to

Elliptic Fourier analysis as a tool for the taxonomic identification of isolated theropod pedal phalanges

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Studies of Upper Cretaceous deposits in North America have provided invaluable insights into the continental ecosystems of this time. Theropod (Saurischia, Dinosauria) pedal phalanges are commonplace in these deposits but can be difficult to identify at a finer taxonomic resolution.

Lateral Extra‐articular Procedures Decrease Rates of Graft Failure and Positive Pivot Shift in Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Meta‐analysis

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To synthesize the existing literature on clinical outcomes and patient‐reported outcome measures following primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and lateral extra‐articular procedures (LEAP) in randomized controlled trials, whereas also determining ceiling effects for the patient‐reported outcome measures utilized.

Integrating Remote Sensing Indices and Ensemble Machine Learning Model with Independent HEC-RAS 2D Model for Enhanced Flood Prediction and Risk Assessment in the Ottawa River Watershed

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Floods rank among the most destructive natural hazards worldwide. In Canada’s capital region—Ottawa and its surrounding areas—flood prediction is crucial, especially in flood-prone zones, to improve flood mitigation strategies, given its historical ...
