AbstractOttoman sources supply ample evidence that male–male sexual relations were commonplace, and widely known about. Typically, they were strictly age-differentiated, with an adult as the active partner and a teenaged boy as the passive one; the dividing-line between boyhood and adulthood was defined by the appearance of facial hair.
