Ouabain-induced cell signaling
Frontiers in Bioscience, 2005When endogenous ouabain was first isolated from human plasma in 1991, many expressed doubts that such a compound could be endogenous to humans because of its unusual structure, its unknown synthesis, and its unidentified site of origin. Furthermore, the relevance of human ouabain was questioned because of its apparently low (< or =nmol/L) circulating ...

The influence of metiamide on ouabain cardiotoxicity
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1975The effect of metiamide on the cardiotoxicity produced by ouabain was studied in pentobarbital-anesthetized cats. The onset of ouabain-induced ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation was significantly delayed in cats treated with metiamide as compared with cats that did not receive metiamide.
