Selective Prescribing of First‐Line SGLT2 Inhibitor and GLP‐1 RA in Adults With Severe Mental Illness and Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesPharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, Volume 35, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and GLP‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RA) provide cardiovascular (CV) benefits, but their first‐line use among adults with severe mental illness (SMI) is not well characterized. We evaluated selective prescribing of SGLT2i, GLP‐1 RA, and metformin among adults with SMI and type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Negative Affective States Are Not Detected in Rats Following an Intravenous Self‐Administration Regimen Leading to Incubation of Oxycodone Craving

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 31, Issue 11, November 2026.
This study asked whether negative affective states are detected in rats after protracted abstinence from an oxycodone self‐administration regimen leading to incubation of craving. After more than 40 days of abstinence, when incubation is robust, we found no differences between saline and oxycodone rats in tests of negative affect.

Craving and personal functioning as mediators of extended‐release buprenorphine efficacy: A four‐way decomposition analysis from a randomised trial

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 121, Issue 11, Page 3010-3024, November 2026.
Abstract Aims To investigate whether the treatment effect of extended‐release buprenorphine (BUP‐XR) on opioid‐free days in opioid use disorder (OUD) is mediated by reductions in opioid craving and improvements in personal functioning. Design and setting Exploratory causal mediation analysis using VanderWeele's four‐way decomposition framework in a 24 ...
