Outer envelope membranes from chloroplasts are isolated as right-side-out vesicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Outer envelope membranes were isolated from purified chloroplasts of pea leaves. The sidedness of the vesicles was analyzed by (i) aqueous polymer-two phase partitioning, (ii) the effect of limited proteolysis on the outer-envelope proteins (OEP) 86 and ...

Approaching the secrets of N-glycosylation in Aspergillus fumigatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The mannosyltransferase Och1 is the key enzyme for synthesis of elaborated protein N-glycans in yeast. In filamentous fungi genes implicated in outer chain formation are present, but their function is unclear.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Unveiling the role of BON domain-containing proteins in antibiotic resistance

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The alarming rise of antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria poses a global health crisis. Their unique outer membrane restricts antibiotic access.

Prediction of β-barrel membrane proteins by searching for restricted domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
BACKGROUND: The identification of beta-barrel membrane proteins out of a genomic/proteomic background is one of the rapidly developing fields in bioinformatics. Our main goal is the prediction of such proteins in genome/proteome wide analyses.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Leptospira interrogans endostatin-like outer membrane proteins bind host fibronectin, laminin and regulators of complement

open access: yes, 2007
The pathogenic spirochete Leptospira interrogans disseminates throughout its hosts via the bloodstream, then invades and colonizes a variety of host tissues.

Transport of proteins across mitochondrial membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The vast majority of proteins comprising the mitochondrion are encoded by nuclear genes, synthesized on ribosomes in the cytosol, and translocated into the various mitochondrial subcompartments. During this process proteins must cross the lipid membranes

Computational Model of Outer Circle and Inner Ellipse Shield Tunnel Lining Structure

open access: yes, 2021
Subway tunnels are mostly located in strata with an uneven pressure. This uneven pressure is usually manifested by lateral pressure coefficients less than 1.
