Lithospheric Structure of the Dinarides‐Adriatic Region From Ambient Noise Eikonal Tomography

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract The Dinarides, a mountain range along the eastern edge of the Adria microplate, is the focus of the ongoing extensive geophysical research due to its complex tectonic features and importance in the evolution of the central Mediterranean. There are numerous open questions about the interaction and movement of Adria in the last 20 Ma with ...

Where is There Chance to Find Deep Prospects Below the Outer Western Carpathian Thrust Belt?

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract In the period of 80 and 90th, the intensive deep drilling and seismic profiling program in the Outer Western Carpathian belt has been realized for confirming the idea about the existence and opening of new promising plays beneath some of these thin-skinned belts.

From Genes to Shapes: Exploring Local Adaptation in Carpathian Ox‐Eye Daisies

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 52, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Historical processes have shaped the Carpathian biogeography, yet ongoing evolutionary forces continue to drive population differentiation. We aimed to test whether local adaptation in the Carpathian subendemic Leucanthemum rotundifolium correlates with genetic, morphological and environmental factors, and to assess how these patterns ...

A European Hail and Lightning Climatology From an 11‐Year Kilometer‐Scale Regional Climate Simulation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 14, 28 July 2025.
Abstract Hail and lightning, associated with severe convective storms, can cause extensive damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and ecosystems. Because of the small scale of these storms and the complexity of the involved processes, observing and modeling convective storms is challenging.

Oligocene deep-water agglutinated foraminifers at Site 985, Norwegian Basin, southern Norwegian Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The stratigraphic distribution of deep-water agglutinated foraminifers was examined using 50 samples from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Hole 985A, drilled on the gentle slope of the Iceland Plateau in the Norwegian Basin. A total of 40 species and generic

Sedimentology of the Godula Formation in the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts. (Outer Western Carpathians, Czech Republic)

open access: yesAnnales Societatis Geologorum Poloniae, 2021
The present account summarizes the results of lithological and facies analysis of representative sections of the Godula Formation, in order to contribute to the understanding of the lithofacies structure of this formation, the processes involved in its development and the character of the depositional environment.

Commodity risk assessment of Acer plants from Ukraine

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ’High‐risk plants, plant products and other objects'. This Scientific Opinion covers plant health risks posed by Acer plants (A. griseum, A.

Structurally Controlled Silica Precipitation Within Multi‐Stage Fault Damage Zones During the Rifting of the Pannonian Basin

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 37, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
Evolution of deformation mechanism and associated silica precipitation with respect to stratigraphic and burial position during syn‐rift phases. ABSTRACT Development of brittle fracture zones as passages for fluid migration within the shallow crust results in substantial petrophysical and rheological changes that strongly influence deformation ...

Structure and dynamics of deep-seated slope failures in the Magura Flysch Nappe, outer Western Carpathians (Czech Republic) [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2004
Deep-seated mass movements currently comprise one of the main morphogenetic processes in the Flysch Belt of the Western Carpathians of Central Europe. These mass movements result in a large spectrum of slope failures, depending on the type of movement ...

Drivers of glacially induced fault reactivation in the Baltic Sea sector of the Tornquist Fan

open access: yesBoreas, Volume 54, Issue 2, Page 220-245, April 2025.
We analyse the effect of Quaternary glaciations on the complex tectonic pattern of the Baltic Sea sector of the Tornquist Fan. Using 2D marine reflection seismic data we determine the strike and dip angles of more than 40 potential glacially reactivated faults and calculated the Coulomb failure stress changes (ΔCFS) over the past 200 000 years.
