Outlier Detection for Time Series with Recurrent Autoencoder Ensembles

open access: yesInternational Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2019
We propose two solutions to outlier detection in time series based on recurrent autoencoder ensembles. The solutions exploit autoencoders built using sparsely-connected recurrent neural networks (S-RNNs).

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

A Student’s T Mixture Cardinality-Balanced Multi-Target Multi-Bernoulli Filter With Heavy-Tailed Process and Measurement Noises

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
The cardinality-balanced multi-target multi-Bernoulli (CBMeMBer) filter is a promising solution for multi-target tracking. However, the performance of the CBMeMBer filter will be degraded severely by outliers in the presence of heavy-tailed process noise

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

A New Acoustic Emission Source Location Method Using Tri-Variate Kernel Density Estimator

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A new AE location method using tri-variate kernel density estimator is developed in this paper. Firstly, combinations of every six arrivals are obtained from a multi-sensor location system, and the preliminary location results are obtained by solving the

Outliers and Patterns of Outliers in Contingency Tables with Algebraic Statistics [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, 2012
Abstract.  In this paper, we provide a definition of pattern of outliers in contingency tables within a model‐based framework. In particular, we make use of log‐linear models and exact goodness‐of‐fit tests to specify the notions of outlier and pattern of outliers.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Spectrally-Spatially Regularized Low-Rank and Sparse Decomposition: A Novel Method for Change Detection in Multitemporal Hyperspectral Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Change detection (CD) for multitemporal hyperspectral images (HSI) can be approached as classification consisting of two steps, change feature extraction and change identification.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Fuzzy Vector Signature and Its Application to Privacy-Preserving Authentication

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Fuzzy authentication uses non-deterministic or noisy data, like biometrics, as an authentication factor. Although the data is extracted from the same individual or source, it can be different for each measurement.
