Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Massive Ovarian Oedema-A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Massive ovarian oedema is defined by WHO as formation of tumour like enlargement of one or both ovaries by oedema fluid. We report a case of a 18-year-old unmarried girl who presented with three months amenorrhoea and left sided lower abdominal pain ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A novel fertility-sparing nanocomposite for endometriosis treatment via oxidative stress and inflammation alleviation

open access: yesMaterials Today Bio
Endometriosis, an estrogen-dependent inflammatory disorder prevalent in reproductive-age women, is characterized by the growth of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine cavity, leading to chronic pain and infertility.

A quantitative analysis infection of ovarian cyst based on examination data of computed tomography and type-B ultrasonography

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2021
In order to explore the accuracy of computed tomography (CT) and type-B ultrasonography in the examinations infection of ovarian cyst, the computed tomography and type-B ultrasonography were used for the examinations of 50 patients with infection of ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Variations in radiological features between primary and secondary ovarian malignancies

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2018
Objectives: To describe the patient characteristics, imaging features, biomarkers raising the possibility of secondary ovarian tumors. How imaging features of secondary ovarian tumors vary according to the origin of the primary tumor.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Massive Ovarian Edema in a Girl with Hemoglobin SC Disease

open access: yesCase Reports in Pathology, 2018
Massive ovarian edema is a benign tumor like lesion of the ovary. The widely accepted mechanism is disruption of vascular drainage resulting in accumulation of fluid within the stroma and enlargement of the ovary.

Fallopian tube lesions as potential precursors of early ovarian cancer: a comprehensive proteomic analysis

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancer worldwide. High-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC) is the most common and deadliest subtype of ovarian cancer. While the origin of ovarian tumors is still debated, it has been suggested that
