Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Serum Anti-Müllerian Hormone Is Significantly Altered by Downregulation With Daily Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Agonist: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
Research Question: What is the effect of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)-agonist treatment on serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH)?Design: This prospective cohort study conducted in a tertiary university hospital comprised patients (n = 52) who self ...

The serum follicle stimulating hormone-to-luteinizing hormone ratios can predict assisted reproductive technology outcomes in women undergoing gonadotropin releasing hormone antagonist protocol

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
BackgroundThe basal follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)/luteinizing hormone (LH) ratio is a useful predictor of ovarian response. In this study, we investigated whether the FSH/LH ratios during the entire controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) can be used ...

Ovarian Response to hCG in the Postweaning Sow.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1993
Five non-cyclic postweaning sows were given intramuscularly 1,000 IU of hCG on day 2 (4 sows) and day 36 (1 sow) after weaning. Single or multiple follicular cysts were developed in ovaries in all cases. Plasma E2 fluctuated at low levels in 4 of 5 sows resulting in silent heat.

Clinical resistance to platinum chemotherapy in ovarian cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Platinum drugs are the most active agents in ovarian cancer. Their cytotoxicty results from DNA crosslinking. High tumour response rates are seen, but 80 % of patients relapse. Major mechanisms of platinum resistance in patients remain to be established.

Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Investigating the potential for expediting diagnosis of ovarian cancer via prompt symptom recognition & "targeted screening" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PhDThis thesis explores the potential for using symptoms as a tool to bring forward the diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Current evidence supports the existence of prediagnostic symptoms, however symptom lead time has yet to be adequately quantified ...

Anti-mullerian hormone and antral follicle count as predictors of ovarian response in assisted reproduction

open access: yesJournal of Human Reproductive Sciences, 2013
Objective: The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that AMH and antral follicle count (AFC) are good predictors of ovarian response to controlled ovarian stimulation and to compare them.

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).
