Ovarian yolk sac tumor in postmenopausal females

open access: yesMedicine, 2018
Rationale: Ovarian yolk sac tumors (YSTs) are the second most common histologic type of ovarian germ cell tumors. Most patients are adolescent and young women, while cases in postmenopausal women were rarely reported.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Tumor associated macrophages contribute to tumor progression in ovarian cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2014
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death in women with gynecological malignancy and improvements in current treatments are needed. As with many other solid cancers, the ovarian tumor microenvironment is emerging as a key player in tumor progression ...

Adipose-derived exosomal miR-421 targets CBX7 and promotes metastatic potential in ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesJournal of Ovarian Research, 2023
Background Chromobox protein homolog 7 (CBX7), a member of the Polycomb repressor complex, is a potent epigenetic regulator and gene silencer. Our group has previously reported that CBX7 functions as a tumor suppressor in ovarian cancer cells and its ...

Shaping Immune Responses in the Tumor Microenvironment of Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Reciprocal signaling between immune cells and ovarian cancer cells in the tumor microenvironment can alter immune responses and regulate disease progression.

Targeting the tumor microenvironment in colorectal peritoneal metastases

open access: yes, 2020
Peritoneal metastasis (PM) occurs in approximately one in four colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. The pathophysiology of colorectal PM remains poorly characterized. Also, the efficacy of current treatment modalities, including surgery and intraperitoneal (

New markers for human ovarian cancer that link platinum resistance to the cancer stem cell phenotype and define new therapeutic combinations and diagnostic tools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of gynecologic cancer-related death, due in part to a late diagnosis and a high rate of recurrence. Primary and acquired platinum resistance is related to a low response probability to subsequent lines of ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
