Ovariectomy induced placental hypertrophy
Prostaglandins, 1973Abstract The demonstrations, that a mere progesterone (P) withdrawal can provoke abortion in laboratory mammals as well as in human patients, revealed the sustained presence of a stimulatory mechanism of the uterus during pregnancy. Since it is P which curtails the activating action of this endogenous mechanism (dominated by Prostaglandins ...

IL-6 trans-signalling mediates trabecular, but not cortical, bone loss after ovariectomy.
Bone, 2018Bone loss associated with estrogen deficiency occurs due to a high level of bone remodelling, with a greater increase in the level of osteoclast-mediated bone resorption than osteoblast-mediated bone formation. Early studies showed that Interleukin-6 (IL-

Ovariectomy by colpotomy in cows
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1992Summary For the purpose of collecting active ovarian structures for cell culture, unilateral ovariectomy (n = 34 ovaries) was performed per vagina on 17 dairy cows having normal estrous cycles, bilateral ovariectomy was performed on 9 (n = 18 ovaries) dairy cows, and corpora lutea (n = 13) were removed from 11 beef cows having normal estrous cycles ...

Laparoscopic ovariectomy in standing cows
Animal Reproduction Science, 2005The main objective of this study was to evaluate laparoscopic ovariectomy and to develop an optimal surgical technique for this procedure in standing cattle. Eight cows underwent laparoscopic ovariectomy. In two cows, a bilateral flank approach was used and in six cows, both ovaries were removed via a left flank approach.

Prolactin binding in ovariectomy-responsive and ovariectomy-nonresponsive rat mammary carcinoma.
Cancer research, 1977Growth of the transplantable mammary tumor, MTW9, in W/Fu rats is greatly enhanced by elevated serum prolactin concentrations. This report compares the prolactin binding to tumor membranes in two mammary tumor strains derived from MTW9. Maximum binding to membranes of both tumors occurred at pH 7.6 after incubation for 30 hr at 4 degrees.

Ovariohysterectomy versus ovariectomy
Veterinary Record, 2006SIR, — Routine neutering of bitches is typically carried out by ovariohysterectomy (ovh) in the uk and the usa, but by ovariectomy (ove) in some European countries. The reason for this geographical difference appears to be historical.
