Ovariectomy induced placental hypertrophy

Prostaglandins, 1973
Abstract The demonstrations, that a mere progesterone (P) withdrawal can provoke abortion in laboratory mammals as well as in human patients, revealed the sustained presence of a stimulatory mechanism of the uterus during pregnancy. Since it is P which curtails the activating action of this endogenous mechanism (dominated by Prostaglandins ...

Pneumopericardium as a complication of laparoscopy for ovariectomy

Journal of Small Animal Practice, 2017
A one‐year‐old poodle×cocker spaniel bitch was presented for laparoscopic ovariectomy. Pre‐operative examination was unremarkable. The left ovariectomy was performed uneventfully. Following insufflation of the abdomen and repositioning of the patient, signs consistent with cardiac tamponade developed, resulting in death.

The conversion of an ovariectomy-nonresponsive to an ovariectomy-responsive mammary tumor strain.

Cancer research, 1976
MTW9, a transplantable mammary tumor in Wistar Furth rats, shows little growth unless host serum prolactin is increased. This study compares the response to ovariectomy of MTW9-MtT, a tumor developed in rats bearing the mammosomatotropic tumor MtTW10 (serum prolactin 500 to 7000 ng/ml) with MTW9-P developed in rats given chronic perphenazine treatment (

Effects of ovariectomy in beagle dogs

Bone, 1987
Beagle dogs 3-7 years old were ovariectomized (n = 9) or sham operated (n = 6) and followed for 48 weeks with measurements of body weight, tibial shaft bone mineral content (BMC), and serum biochemistry. Following killing, measurements were made of bone strength and histomorphometry.

EFFECT OF OVARIECTOMY ON VASCULAR REACTIONS

Acta Endocrinologica, 1960
ABSTRACT Vascular reactivity, estimated on the basis of peripheral blood flow responses to intraarterial noradrenaline, »Priscoline« and »Pitressin« infusions, was studied in dogs. Ovariectomy had little effect on these vascular responses. The duration however of the effect of noradrenaline and »Priscoline« became prolonged.

Effects of ovariectomy in prepubertal goats.

Journal of physiology and pharmacology : an official journal of the Polish Physiological Society, 2009
The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of ovariectomy on mammary gland development in prepubertal goats and to validate this model to study mammogenesis in young dairy ruminants. In this experiment, 3 months of aged goats were ovariectomized (ovx) while shammed goats played as surgery controls (sham).
