Measurements of flows over isolated valleys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Wind-tunnel measurements of the flow over an isolated valley both normal and at an angle (45°) to a simulated neutrally stable atmospheric boundary layer are presented. Attention is concentrated on the nature of the flow within the valley itself.

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Dispersion engineering and measurement of whispering gallery mode microresonator for Kerr frequency comb generation

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2020
Designing and engineering microresonator dispersion are essential for generating microresonator frequency comb. Microresonator frequency combs (microcombs, Kerr frequency combs) offer the potential for various attractive applications as a new type of ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Flux-gradient relationship for turbulent dispersion over complex terrain [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 1995
The transfer of a passive tracer in inhomogeneous turbulent flow is investigated. Starting from Lumley's constitutive equation, we derived an expression for the ratio between the effective eddy diffusivity K and eddy diffusivity K as a function of three

Dispersion in oscillatory flows

open access: yes, 1983
The enhanced axial mixing which is caused by dispersion in oscillatory flows in some mass transfer devices may limit the reactor performance. This effect has provided the motivation for the present study in which oscillatory flow dispersion in a flat ...
