Tough and Skin‐Free Porous Polyelectrolyte Complex Hydrogels via Salt‐Induced Aqueous Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling counterion exchange rate during aqueous phase separation enables the formation of skin‐free, homogeneously porous polyelectrolyte complex hydrogels by suppressing kinetically trapped skin layers and macrovoids. The resulting hydrogel networks exhibit exceptional toughness (∼15 MJ·m−3) and enable 3D (bio)printing and post‐functionalization ...

Effects of Height to Diameter Ratio and Aeration rate on Liquid Mixing and Hydrodynamic Properties in a Bubble Column [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2009
"> Experimental measurements of overall gas holdup (εg), residence time distribution (RTD) and liquid mixing time (tm) have been carried out in an air-water system in a 17 lit bubble column with an 11 cm diameter, over a wide range of superficial gas ...

Investigation of the Mass Transfer Ratio in a Bubble Column Operated with Various Organic Liquids and Mixtures Under Ambient Conditions

open access: yesFluids
In this work, for the first time, the dependence of the mass transfer (MT) ratio (kLa coefficient to overall gas holdup) as a function of the superficial gas velocity UG in seven organic liquids was studied.

Mitigating Concentration Polarization in Dry‐Processed Ultra‐Thick Cathodes Using a Low‐Viscosity Electrolyte With Soft Li+ Solvation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A low‐viscosity, soft‐solvating methyl ethanoate (ME)‐based electrolyte facilitates electrolyte infiltration into dense dry‐processed ultra‐thick NCM622 cathodes while reducing Li+ desolvation barriers at Li‐metal anodes. Balanced cathode‐scale ion transport and anode‐side interfacial kinetics mitigate concentration polarization and interfacial ...

Atomically Dispersed Ni Site Catalysts Accelerating Sluggish Sulfur Redox Kinetics in Nonaqueous Zn‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomically dispersed Ni catalyst featuring Ni‐N4 coordination is developed as a sulfur host for nonaqueous Zn─S batteries. This configuration modulates the electronic structure to lower activation barriers during rate‐limiting steps and promotes a robust ZnF2‐rich cathode‐electrolyte interphase, thereby accelerating sulfur redox kinetics ...

Solution‐Processed Mn‐Doped 2d Perovskite Wavelength Shifters for Noble‐Liquid Photon Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed Mn2+‐doped PEA2PbBr4 two‐dimensional perovskite films are demonstrated as large‐area wavelength shifters for noble‐liquid photon detectors. Mn2+ incorporation introduces a broad emission band at ∼620 nm with a large Stokes shift, suppressing self‐absorption and matching SiPM sensitivity.

Balancing Hydrophobicity and Hydrophilicity: Dual Filler‐Engineered Proton Exchange Membranes for Durable, High‐Power Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polarity‐matched Zr–MOFs program Nafion's nanoscale morphology during solution casting. Hydrophilic UiO‐66 preserves hydrated pathways, while hydrophobic UiO‐67 increases the proton hopping sites by densifying ionic clusters. Combining both fillers yields a membrane that delivers 176 mS cm−1 conductivity, reaches 1.46 W cm−2 under 200 kPa, and triples ...

From material characterization to process simulation: Performance evaluation of amine-infused resins for CO2 capture

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Selective capture of CO2 using solid CO2 sorbents provides an effective solution for a simplified CO2 capture process, however it demands high CO2 capture performance with low regeneration energy.

Tomographic Printing in a Chip: A Versatile Platform for Biomimetic 3D Organ‐on‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel light‐based bioprinting approach, TVAM‐in‐a‐chip, enables rapid, contactless fabrication of biomimetic 3D organ‐on‐chip devices directly within preassembled microfluidic platforms. This strategy supports diverse materials, including cell‐laden resins, and eliminates post‐assembly steps.
