Naloxone for Overdose Prevention
2018Naloxone is very effective in reversing an opioid overdose. It can be delivered by a lay person and if the patient is not experiencing an opioid overdose, naloxone is harmless. There is a new version much easier to use that contains a higher naloxone dose (4 mg). This higher dose is recommended, because it is effective for a fentanyl overdose.
